SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse junior Katie Rowan scored 10 points on seven goals and three assists, breaking the school’s all-time career points record, and leading No. 5/4 Orange women’s lacrosse team to a 24-6 victory against Colgate Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome. The win extends Syracuse’s winning streak to five, and improves its record to 12-2. Colgate goes to 7-8 on the season.
Rowan has now scored 239 points in her three-year career, and has passed Leigh-Ann Zimmer (233 points) as Syracuse’s all-time leader. She also tied the school record for most goals scored in a game with seven.

Sophomore Christina Dove aided the attack by tying her career high with seven points, on four goals and three assists, while sophomore Halley Quillinan put up six points, on four goals and two assists.
The Orange scored the first seven goals of the game in the first 10 minutes of action, including an impressive four-goal spurt in a single minute of play. Rowan found the back of the net four times in the first half, and her goal at the 10:22 mark propelled her to the top spot on the all-time scoring list. Quillinan also had four goals, while Dove scored three to lead the Orange to a 17-4 halftime advantage. The 17 goals tied Syracuse’s season high for goals in a half.
The second half featured more Orange scoring as Rowan put three more behind the Raider’s goalie. Senior Shannon Brushe scored her first goal of the year and freshman Lindsey Connell found the back of the net for the first time in her career.
The team’s 24 goals tie the school record for most goals in a game, and marks the eighth time the Orange has scored 20 or more goals in a game this season. Syracuse now has 268 goals in the 2008 campaign, and is just 21 away from breaking the school record for most goals in a season.
Syracuse outshot Colgate 36-20, and won the draw control battle, 22-10. SU goalie Liz Hogan recorded nine saves, while Colgate netminder Sara Drexler tallied seven. The Raiders’ offense was led by Jess Van der Meulen and Meghan Lawler, each with two goals.
The Orange returns to the field Saturday, April 19 at Loyola at 1 p.m. Syracuse will try to finish its BIG EAST schedule undefeated for the first time in school history. The Orange has already claimed a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title.
